Chambre Rock
Contemplate the impressive landscape over the Biscoito da Ferraria Nature Reserve and the Pico Alto from the top of Rocha do Chambre.
It’s about 9 km of walking in various environments, mostly within the Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species of the Central Plateau and North-West Coast, as well as an incursion into the Biscoito da Ferraria and Pico Alto Nature Reserve.
Dark Mysteries
Breathe and enjoy the Azores’ nature
Along the way, you will be able to see a wide range of endemic vegetation such as cedar trees (Juniperus brevifolia), Madeira blueberry (Vaccinium cylindraceum), laurel (Laurus sp.), laurustinus (Viburnum tinus) and holly (Ilex perado azorica), among others. In addition, the “Black Mysteries”, which give the route its name, consist of trachytic domes formed by recent lava accumulations that are not yet fully covered with vegetation.
Whalers Bay
Discover the North Coast of Terceira Island and its landscapes always with the sea as a backdrop
Walk with us for about 4 km along the North Coast and enjoy the impressive landscape created by the lava flows, as well as birds specific to this region.
Lagoinha
A circular route with truly unique paths and landscapes
Venture down the stony paths, which are yellow in colour, due to their origin in pumice stone (the only stone that floats in water). You will also often see obsidian (or volcanic glass), a black semi-precious stone with sharp edges, used in jewellery. Pass along a path, carved by man, animals and erosive factors, where a vaulted gallery of trees prevents you from seeing the sun for a few minutes, but with small “windows”, you can observe the deep valley worn by time and water, and the impressive landscape of vegetation.
Walking tour of the city of Angra do Heroísmo
Truly get to know the city of Angra do Heroísmo
We will take a walking tour of the main attractions of this Azorean city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. A real spectacle.
