This trail is partly integrated in the protected area for the management of habitats or species of the Costa das Quatro Ribeiras of the Terceira Natural Park, also classified as a Special Area of Conservation under Natura 2000 Network. This route along the northern coast of the island links the parishes of Agualva and Quatro Ribeiras. This fajã, a good example of a filling fajã, was formed after a lava spill that overflowed the cliff creating a barrier. The bay of plug formed was later filled by debris from the springs of the grotto that flows into it and by the sea that plugged the pebble forming a roll beach, we visit Baía das Pombas, a privileged place for birdwatching, with the presence of Common Terns (Sterna hirundo) in the summer, Rock Dove (Columba livia) and Azorean Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus azorica) all year round. Continue to Ponta do Mistério from where you can see Ponta das Quatro Ribeiras.
